Patches, Memorial Arm Bands and More

I've been so busy since my last post in May!

A number of people have been interested in the Memorial Arm Bands this summer so I've made quite a few of them. If you need a memorial band, or a group of them, I'm making them at a discount right now. You can email me or go to my business website for more information.

Pictured is an arm band I made for a memorial motorcycle ride to commemorate the fallen police and fire fighters in New York on 9-11.

I also worked with a wonderful Boy Scout group who ordered patches for one of their projects this summer.

During the time I was designing the patch I came across a really good deal on another embroidery machine. I would never have imagined having two machines running at once! It works out so well!

My new machine

I've opened up a new website for my business. The link is on the right where my email address is. I figured some folks probably won't want to read this blog, they would just like to get information and order embroidery. So take a look at the new website and let me know what you think. Would you like to see something more there?

Thanks for listening ~

A Patch on the Arm

I’m used to creating patches now but this last week I got asked to do something a little different. The customer wanted a patch created and then sewn on the forearm of his shirt sleeve. This patch will be seen when he is shooting skeet.

A patch on the back and the sleeve.

I was very happy with the way the patch went on the sleeve. I used a clear nylon thread to attach it.

Memorial Arm Bands

While I was busy making memorial pillows a couple of weeks ago a friend of ours from the gun club died. When my husband told me that he would like me to make him a black arm band to wear I decided to put some embroidery on it to show our appreciation of this friend. These armbands are made of black cotton twill and black elastic.

Memory Pillows

This last week we heard that a young cousin died. We didn’t know her well but we of a kindred spirit as happens when you have a child with special needs. My heart goes out to that family. I wanted to do something special for them so I decided to make a Memory Pillow to give to them. I looked all over internet to see what sort of memory pillows were out there. I found one for a person and the rest were for pets.

It was a little difficult to make because satin moves around when it is stitched. It turned out so beautiful!

I’ve posted a picture below of the memory pillow I made. Please note: I rubbed the name out of the picture to protect identity, that is why it looks blurry below the statement about mom and dad.

Here's one for a Mother.

And another one for a child.

A few months ago I made another memory pillow for the mother of a man who died in military service.

If you have a idea for a memory pillow please email me. I’d love to hear your ideas.

For the Little People

Recently I had a grandfather commission a set of toddler jean jackets for his grandkids. It took a little thought as to how I wanted to proceed. I didn’t really want to stitch on the jacket itself because I didn’t want the stitching to rub on the baby’s back.

I used a felt fabric and stitched the regular club logo on it. Once they were done I attached it with a zigzag stitch.

Oh these are so yummy!

I sure enjoy my job.

Working a Lace Design

Working on lace can be very tricky. This lace is stitched in sections (16 of them) on water soluble stabilizer and then cut out around the edges. The pieces are stitched together with a zigzag stitch and then stitched onto the cotton/linen fabric. Once that is completed it is soaked in warm water to remove the stabilizer.

I created this as a gift for a friend of mine.
